About Me

My photo
Starting from a young age I have always loved clothes. My mum would put me in one set of clothes in the morning and by the evening I would have changed at least 5 times. My sisters would moan and carry on but it was important that I had a different look all the time. I would always make sure my church outfit was accessorised and my shoes shined. My passion has developed and since opening my dressmaking business I have a sweet spot for amazing fabrics. I hope to pass the tradition on to my own little sweetheart one day!

Well another Christmas has come and gone...now the holidays and sewing beings. Firstly a gorgeous guest attending a wedding with her gorgeous daughter lucky enough to be a junior bridesmaid...then another stunning amazing wedding gown to be made for early March. No rest for me but will make sure a massage of some kind is placed in the holidays sometime.

The new REAL WEDDINGS ANNUAL and Summer mag is onsale and I am busting to have a good look. Can't belive that I still buy these mags but I just love all the inspiration. Check out realweddings.com.au for further information. A little picture of some inspiration from Johanna Johson new range. Image credit to realweddings.com.au.

Well are these not the most amazing and detailed cakes you have ever seen. Being a very keen baker with my mum in country, I could not fatham the amount of patience you would require to make the one on the left. All those layers and all that time assembling this amazing cake. A little inspiration for a future dress in a layered effect. Picture credit to 100layer cake. Have a great weekend!

Shopping for new work outfits

Today I was stranded at Airport West shopping centre waiting for my car to have its full service. I never thought that 4 hours of waiting and shopping could be so exhausting! I walked out very happy as I have almost 5 different outfits all in a budget of $100!! Amazing when you shop with the sales, a little coupon booklet and common sense you can really save some cash! What a busy week I have had off. Time to start some serious sewing!

Working Class Women

This week I am having a girl power week. I found this vintage image and just thought it was summing me up this week. Gone are the days when men are needed to do everything...multi task and get on with it is what I say! I don't know about you but some weeks just seem to flow better than others and this week is one of those not so good weeks. Anyway no time to ponder on the bad, chin up time to look forward to the changes my husband and I have ahead. Thanks for reading my and enjoy your weekend.

Cute kids clothes that can potentially be adults clothing are a love of mine. These images are perfect for depicting the winter days we are having here in Melbourne. Cute, warm and cuddly but still very stylish. Image credit to Tea Princess from the Little Kidz Closet blog and XYZ magazine online. Can not wait to have a little girl and dress her just like this! Enjoy your day.

Oh how I love old images. Especially the 1920's. Everything was so glamourous and detailed. The dress's were feminine and the women so gorgeous with their tiny waists. I only wish I owned some jewellery from the era as it is just divine.

Vintage Sewing Machine image

I love anything vintage and anything sewing and this image has both in the same image. It just so colourful and gorgeous I had to share it with you all.

I love images with depth and colour. These two had me staring at them for awhile and inspiring me to make one of these feather outfits. The photoshoot in the bottom image is stunning! So many elements can really make a shot work and this is one of them.

INSPIRATION BOARDS

Cupcakes & Pretty things to eat

These are the most stunning cupcakes I have ever come across. I was thinking how they would get all the detail so perfect and realised that they are separate caps that are made and then placed on the top so elegantly. Perfect for a wedding cupcake or even an impressive High Tea with the girls. Image is from www.onestylishbride.com Great website for any bride planning a unique wedding.

Also I have some images from an amazing tea party of which these cupcakes could featured. Take a look at www.lmnop.com.au which is an online children's magazine.

The last image is from Martha Stuart Weddings which I regularly read for inspiration. Lots of DIY and plenty of ideas for parties and weddings. Take a look at the stunning rich red garland on the wall. Definately a D.I.Y project for a future celebration. I just love celebrations and happy times! ENJOY YOUR DAY!!!

Long Weekend Retreat not to forget

I loooove long weekends. This has been one of the most relaxing and memorable weekends with my husband. Wining, dining and relaxing on the Mornington Penninsula has to be one of the best past times. Most of all staying in luxury accommodation over looking the bay lights of Melbourne. I had some truely momorable moments of which the food at Crittendan's Winery is still the best to date. Check out this image of our dessert to say the least, truely amazing!! Poached pear with home churned vanilla ice cream and brandy snap wafers. Also 3 gelati choices with tiny waffle cones all home made and very delic!

The fresh air and rolling country sides in the back areas of the Penninsula including Merricks Corner Store could not be missed. The snuggly wood fire crackling and the smell of fresh coffee on this cold day was so unique.

Time flys by so quickly and life is so precious. I have been way to buzy to just STOP and spend quality time with my husband Brad. I highly recommend time out like this when life just gets way too busy. A weekend not to forget!

A bit of inspiration boost

This morning I have been to a truely inspiring talk from the two owners of Ink and Spindle. It has dawned on me that sometimes we all make starting something harder than it should be. I think one of the hardest parts about starting business is committing 100%. After today, I will be taking some valuable insights into making my creative business better.

Project #3 finished from my Dressmaking classes

Today I finally finished the bais binding on my frill vest. I had been working on this all month at my Dressmaking classes that I have been taking in my local area. Initially I thought that the frill was too gathered but I think its ok now. I have some images that you may want to check out but my computer is have a little melt down, I will post soon. The inside is fully lined with a textured silky red & black fabric. Will definately be wearing this one with great pride. Starting my first shirt on Thursday night class so with the drafted pattern complete and the fabric ready to go, should be interesting to see the outcome. I will keep you posted.

Gorgeous inspiration for the weekend

Today I have been wedding magazine crazy. There just seems to be something about weddings and the happiness that surrounds them. After dropping by the brides place on Sunday I could not get over how exciting I felt on my own wedding day. It just seems to be one time in your life that your a princess and feel so important. I have posted this image from the current Cosmo Bride Magazine that just seems to reflect how I am feeling right now. I love the sunlight in behind her and the umberella that she is holding is exactly the same as the one I had on my wedding day. So I suppose there is some connection. Enjoy the weekend!

Whimsical Tables for your Wedding

http://greenweddingshoes.com/whimsical-tables-for-your-wedding/">Whimsical Tables for your Wedding

This would have to be the most gorgeous Wedding blog I have seen this week! So inspiring with the whole "Alice Iin Wonderland" theme being so popular these days, I am sure you will enjoy looking through this blog. My personal favourite was the first image with the screen in the background. A little like a gown I was looking at producing...maybe I should now! Enjoy!

Bridesmaids almost complete

I have been madly hand sewing 3 adorable Bridesmaids for the weekend. I feel like an amazing journey has come to an end as this bridal party would have to be the most adorable group of family and friends. I had the pleasure of taking a trip to Sydney with my sewing machine in hand for a day of sewing and making the final bridesmaid. She and her family were so hospitable of which I truely thanked. With an 8 month baby and manovering around the large tummy, I was able to still make her look as adorable as the other 2.

Now on Sunday, I get to see the final results of this 6 month stint and see the happy married couple commit. Thank you to all and you know who you are! Looking forward to the next client.

My First Post!

Well it has taken me so long to start this blog! I have been dressmaking for the past 7 years part time in between 8 years of study and travelling to Canada to find my husband. I would like to introduce myself and hopefully inspire all those young women or men that have an interest in sewing. Not only sewing but fashion and other areas that inspire me to write about. Do hope you enjoy the journey.
